Ch 22 Foreign Governments

1.  Pick two countries in Chapter 22 and provide an in depth paragraph on their government and how it operates.
* Britain's government is built on a fusions of powers. Britain's goverment is also a unitary government and there is no constitutional divisions of powers between the national government and regional or local governments in Britian. Local councils fund these services largely through grants from the central government which is accounting for about half of all the local governments revenue. Russia's government today has moved toward democracy and economic reform. A new constitution was approved in late 1993. It says "a democratic federal legally-based state with a republican form of government." In the middle of 1990, the republics of Russia, Ukraine, and Byelorussia declared independence from the Soviet central authority.

2. What are some of the similarities of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
*They all have some form of president, they all have a constitution.

3. What are some of the differences of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
*A couple of them don't have communist parties, China is the only country that does not have regional and local government, Great Britain is the only one with a prime minister.

4. Which country in Chapter 22 do you believe has the strongest government and why?
* The country with the strongest government is China because the communist party has some 58 million members and is the largest political party in the world.

5. In what ways does the U.S. government relate to the methods of governments listed in Chapter 22?
* We have a constitution just like they do and the United States is a founding member of the United Nations. United States, Canada, and Mexico ratify the NAFTA free-trade agreement.
